If you want to contact John, using the mail function here is a really bad way to do it. Recommended – for readers who want to complete their Military Sci-Fi collection. I liked the way it was done here, with the new consciousness not ‘taking’ because of the lack of experiences, and that the whole process resulted in someone subtly different.

Still, I found the story to be fast paced with battle action pretty much from the get go. The rest of the characters were flat and predictable: Jan 31, Dirk Grobbelaar rated it really liked it Shelves: Still, I’d say that the mission was accomplished. I feel for you, but it doesn’t make me give you any sympathy stars.

The writing was as good as it was in Old Man’s War, just from a third person point of view instead of the first person.

That’s one grumble I have about the book – I wasn’t convinced about main villain’s motivations and chosen methods in the end. Scalzi built in the first book, so it’s not like you should skip that book. Can I have a job writing your next movie?

The CDF whipped up a new soldier to see if they could load the brain scan and hopefully find out what the traitor’s intentions were.

Odlicna knjiga, dosta bolja od prve i iskreno sa dosta vise interesantnih ideja narocito o ljudskim dusama i sta je uopste biti covek ili individua. The CDF has discovered they had a traitor in their midst but he has escaped and instigated an alliance between three different species with the outcome being they team up against humans.

Judging from the blurb, which I quickly scanned just now, it is.

The theory is that melding the experience and wisdom of age with the vitality of youth will make for a more formidable soldier. It is more of a riff on existing themes than an original composition, but it provides an action-driven plot that is grounded in very human characters.

From what I’ve read he mostly writes popcorn fiction. At first I had a lot of problems, cause till we get to Jared we swap between secondary characters for a while and I never really connected with any of them and there is a lot of biological technobabel in the beginning that might be interesting, if you are interested in this field, but for me it ended up more in a headache inducing capacity.

Here, things felt a little more forced, even though I had a good time reading from start to finish. Wink the Astrokitty drawn by Matt Olson. No trivia or quizzes yet.

The sequel to Old Man’s War follows the titular Ghost Brigades including Jane Sagan from OMW as Scalzi expands his universe and further explores the moral and ethical implications of tube-grown soldiers and a space military that reports only to itself.
