Hamsun transcends the pedestrian nature of small town intrigue through his insight into the psychological processes draemers characters both fooling and convincing themselves of their own perceptions and desires. Dreamers is the easier read by far, though less rewarding – it’s a somewhat scattered comedy, but Hamsun does an excellent job developing more than a few fascinating characters, and he mixes in enough evocative imagery to make the setting come to life.
Rolandsen is engaged to Miss van Loos, at the same time as he is in love with Elise, daughter of the local business magnate.

If you have heard of the Norwegian Knut Hamsun, who won the Nobel Prize for literature in and later on became an admirer of Hitler, persist with your interest. Inhis novel Hamzun of the Soil, a book describing the attraction and honesty of working with the land, won the Nobel Prize in Literature.
Our main character, Big Rdeamers Rolandsen, is a drunk Draemers who is really an inventor. Dreamers is another wonderful non-romantic romance involving ordinary people in a small Norweigen village from the master of the genre, Knut Hamsun.
The colourful characters are affectionately rendered, and by switching points of view their dreams and ambitions are made familiar and sympathetic.

The Bridal March and One Day. In fact, the only thing knuut seemed to remain was the setting which remained as beautiful and isolating as it ,nut in the first chapter.
But, on the other hand, I suppose if it dreajers go on for any longer, I would have complained about its being too long. Hamsun does an awesome job of explaining their daily lives and routines, which expresses the true sense of isolation the islanders must feel.
Sadly, though, it was not the case here. Big Ove Rolandsen, telegraph operator, mad scientist, and local Casanova, trades wits, fists, and kisses with a host of quirky neighbors.
I just love the places he puts his characters; it’s always some isolated, calm village or small town which brings me comfort. Hamsun has always favored the eccentrics. Save that Jomfru van Loos had a host of things to do just now, she would have gone straight up to them that moment and demanded an explanation. Would you like us to take another look at this review? From where I stand, this looks to be the best of Knut Hamsun’s books. Rolandsen has a better way to make dremaers, a plan that could put Mack out of business. The plot is predictable, the characters a bit stereotypical, the psychological analysis lackluster. We’ll publish them on our site once we’ve reviewed them.

While this is a minor work, it was fun and I always enjoy knug trip back into the word of Nobel Laureate Knut Hamsun.
