They should hand this book craash in rehabs because it truly shows just how ridiculous kange is I wish him peace and I’ve heard he’s still using so I pray that he one day truly can get himself away from that garbage. Good book but a little hard to stomach. I hope he writes a third one that can go back to the humor because when he’s funny omg he just has me in stitches!!!
This book made my heart just ache for his mother. Add on – I was almost finished the book when I wrote the above review the last three chapters took my heart That’s the sheer definition of drug addiction I always liked that guy thought he was funny and to hear how he went down was just heart wrenching I’m glad Artie made it through but again I think he’s still messing with it so I really do pray for him Kindle Edition Verified Purchase. This review is not a slam against Mr Lange.
I’m a fan of lnge and the Stern show, and had a pretty good idea what was in the book. And of course when Artie starts using humor to downplay the tragedy, there is nobody funnier.
The only problem with the book, is that like any addict Artie comes off as very selfish, self absorbed, and not very appreciate of the talent he was blessed with or the prosperity he’s enjoyed. Can’t take any stars off for that because nobody is quicker to say that than the man himself, even in the pages of this very book.
Artie owns it, and in my opinion, gets a pass. What srtie may be a spoiler to some!!!: Kudos to Mr Lange for coming clean on the big lie that attempts to sugarcoat the most important chapter in the book. But like any addict, no matter how candid his revelation seems, people need to be aware there is almost always one more lie underneath the last one to be exposed, like little Russian nesting dolls of shame and regret. This second book from Artie is even better then the first one.
In this one Artie cgash hard at his life of suicidal guilt and remorse and hard drug abuse and isn’t afraid to tell the awful truth about his own bizarre behavior and self-destructive activity.
My only quibble is it’s written to too low a level, like at idiot level, but I guess Artie knows his fans Artie’s continued existence is a daily miracle and so’s his own self-effacing, and brutally honest sense of humor.
Here’s to hoping he lives long enough to write a third volume. I learned of Artie from the Stern Show. The guy is spot on hilarious. Saw his show in LA when he was a mess but he still killed.
It’s hard to shock me so his type of humor makes me laugh. The raunchier the better.
This book was awesome. Too Fat to Fish was great too. This book opened my eyes even wider as to what I’ve known and lived about addiction. It’s heartbreaking to say the least. I’m very happy to see that he is doing well. I hope he continues to do so. Would love to hear him as a anf on Howard One can only hope. What an amazing story. Although I am huge fan of Artie, you don’t have to be lanye enjoy this book. I can be believe he’s still alive.
Artie twists his drug induced years into a funny yet saddening story. I read Too Fat to Fish which was good, but not a necessary read to preview this one.
His truthfulness is beyond a doubt and the end will have you shocked, yet not completely surprised. We are fortunate to still have a comic like this with us who realized he was on the train to hell just before it got there and managed to jump although it was probably a very sloppy one.
Glad you are still here An I liked the book and it seems to be better written anv his first. The only problem I had was that I found myself getting tired of his “she changed my life” and “he made such a difference in my life” comments.
After each of these “life changing” events, he vrash right back to drinking and drugging. How about waiting for 5 or 10 years of sobriety so you can get some perspective before writing books on how your life has changed. After 6 months of being clean, restrict your books to stories of drunken debauchery and skip the claims of redemption.
As a Stern fan this is a must read, as it fully explains in great depth Artie’s downfall and why he is no longer on the show. He has gone through a lot of struggles and shares his experiences throughout his life crsah his first book. At times, the details are graphic, and even hard to read, but the payoff is worth it.
I gave it four stars because at times I crahs Artie uses a lot of hyperbole in describing his experiences which sort of negates the weight of what is going on as the book progresses. Kind of like a guy who uses the F word a lot. Overall, great book, and a cradh read for any Stern fan. One person found this helpful. I have been a fan of the Stern show as long as I can remember and when artie joined I artje in love with his humor immediately.
Crash and Burn
This is a sad and very eye opening tale about drug use but he puts a weirdly funny spin on most of it. Very worth the read if your a fan or even if you love an uplifting story even if this book is an odd take on uplifting. See all reviews.
